Angels are going all in and I like it. I'm such a Mike Trout fanboy that I am thrilled to see them getting some nice pieces to compliment him.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
no way Angelos trades Machado to the Yanks.

It will happen. After the season when he becomes a free agent.

They just gave Headley and a reliever away for free just to cut salary.
While they're still the Yankees they're obviously operating on some budget and in that regard, at the absolute minimum, they're going to have to choose between Machado or Harper if/when they both hit free agency, assuming they can even afford either after taking Stanton's contract.
Without either they're already set offensively though, so I don't think that's a missed luxury you need to sweat.

The only way it doesn't happen with Machado next season is if Andujar has this incredible season. In which case they would probably turn their eyes to someone else like Harper or a pitcher.

Assuming they do have the room for another monster contract they'd be smart to ignore both and go all in on pitching.
You still need to get the other guys out and they have enough run scoring firepower as is.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Phillies get Santana for 3 years. They must be planning on putting Rhys Hoskins in the outfield.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Dodgers sign Tom Koehler and are targeting Yoshihisa Hirano (who?). Man, is our hot stove is fucking HOT!
Watch your fucking fingers and keep the kids away from the stove! The Dodgers front office is on FIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Matt Kemp for a veteran buffet of poo lol. Adrian Gonzalez's corpse, Brandon McCarthy, one of Scott Kazmir's arms, Charlie Culberson and monies
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Meh, Dodgers get under the Luxury Tax threshold for 2018 so they can reset their Tax rate for 2019.
Rosenthal says Kemp will likely to be traded again or released. Considering the Braves couldn't move his contract except for a bunch of expiring contracts making up the same money in 2018, I have to think he'll get released.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
In 2012 this would have been a blockbuster deal.
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Yup, how sad is it that the only player going to ATL that I'll miss is Charlie Culberson?
Re: 2017-18 Off-Season Hot Stove
Yeah, I don't doubt it. You won't miss him when next year at this time the Dodgers are in on the Harper/Machado sweepstakes.
Another interesting part of this trade is that this opens a spot in for the Braves top prospect, Acuna.
