    World Series Game 1:

The Royals haven't won a World Series since 1985. Kansas City has repeated as the American League Pennant winners, last season they came in as a wild card team, this time as the AL Central Division champs. Many were surprised they were able to pull it off after losing James Shields and Bully Butler, they picked up a couple other pieces to make up for exiting ones. They took out the Astros needing all five games of the ALDS, then took six games to eliminate the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS and have home field advantage for the final.

The Mets last championship was 1986. New York have been a surprise as well, relying on a mix of youth and veterans. They won 20 of 28 games in August on their way to finishing 90 wins strong to take the NL East division. This was their first postseason in nine years. They beat the LA Dodgers in five games of their NLDS and swept the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS to get a shot at a World Series championship.

The Mets and Royals last met during the regular season in 2013. Kansas City won that series 2-1 at Citi Field. Two of the games were decided in extra innings. The two rosters are very different now. These two teams have never met in the World Series. This is the first time a World Series didn't include at least one team that existed in 1903, which is the first year the World Series was played.

    Line-up:

    Granderson RF
    Wright 3B
    Murphy 2B
    Cespedes CF
    Duda 1B
    d'Arnaud C
    Conforto LF
    Flores SS
    Johnson DH
    Harvey P
    Escobar SS
    Zobrist 2B
    Cain CF
    Hosmer 1B
    Morales DH
    Moustakas 3B
    Perez C
    Gordon LF
    Rios RF
    Volquez P

Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71) who was suberb in NLCS Game 1 against the Chicago Cubs.

Edinson Volquez (13-9, 3.55) pitched six scoreless innings against the Blue Jays in Game 1, but walked the first two batters in the sixth, somehow escaping a 37-pitch inning without any runs.

Yoenis Cespedes received a cortisone injection for his sore left shoulder Friday. Daniel Murphy has the most experience against Volquez and has hit him well, going 6-for-15 with a double and two RBIs. David Wright, is only 2-for-13 lifetime.

Alex Rios (1-for-3) is the only Royals player who has faced Harvey. While with the White Sox, he broke up Harvey's no-hit bid with an infield single on May 7, 2013, it was the only hit of the game.

Sorry, but misplaying and hitting a ball around the park with your arm does not make an inside the park homer. Mets better win tonight.

    World Series Game 2:

Kansas City Royals lead the series 1-0, Game 1 went 14 innings, a World Series game has gone to 14 two other times in history in 1916 and 2005. In 1916, the Red Sox outlasted the Brooklyn Robins (Dodgers) to win a game in which both starting pitchers stayed 'til the end. Sherry Smith for the Robins and Babe Ruth for Red Sox. In 2005 the White Sox outlasted the Houston Astros. This was the longest Game 1 in WS history.

The team that has won Game 1 in the World Series has gone on to take the Fall Classic in 23 of the past 27 instances. Of the previous 62 teams to win Game 1 of the World Series at home, 35 (56.5 percent) have also won Game 2, including eight of the past 10. Of the 35 to win Game 2, 28 (80 percent) have gone on to win the title.

    Line-up:

    Granderson RF
    Wright 3B
    Murphy 2B
    Cespedes LF
    Duda 1B
    d'Arnaud C
    Conforto DH
    Flores SS
    Legares CF
    deGrom P
    Escobar SS
    Zobrist 2B
    Cain CF
    Hosmer 1B
    Morales DH
    Moustakas 3B
    Perez C
    Gordon LF
    Rios RF
    Cueto P

Jacob deGrom (14-8, 2.54 ERA) has won all three of his postseason starts, allowing just four runs in 20 innings while recording 27 strikeouts. Only Royals backup catcher Drew Butera has any history against him.

Johnny Cueto (11-13, 3.44) looks to rebound from allowing eight runs (a club record for the postseason) in just two innings on Oct. 19, losing Game 3 of the ALCS. Daniel Murphy is 3-for-17 lifetime against Cueto, and Lucas Duda is 3-for-15 with 10 strikeouts.

Royals go with same starting line-up, Mets will go with Juan Legares in centerfield. Yoenis Cespedes, started in center on Tuesday will be in left. He made got a bad read on a fly ball off Alcides Escobar whch led to a leadoff inside-the-park home run. Michael Conforto who was in left will be the DH.

According to reports Edinson Volquez wasn't told about the death of his father Daniel until he left the game last night at the request of his wife. She was waiting for him in the clubhouse after he was relieved following the sixth inning. He left for the Dominican Republic and is expected to rejoin the Royals in NY.

Mike Moustakas lost his mother in August and Chris Young lost his father in September. Lot of heavy hearts in that clubhouse.

Sorry, an inside-the-park home run is when a player touches all four bases (in the order of first, second and third, ending at home plate) before a fielder on the opposing team tags him out with an error being called on the fielder. That's what happened and that's how it's scored.

Not if it's an error, which that play should have been ruled.

I understand that you're team is losing, but really???? The ball deflected off Cespedes body not his glove, he didn't even have his glove up for a ball, that is NOT an error. That is an idiot (Cespedes) not paying enough attention to read it well on top of the other boob (Conforto) charging in distracting the idiot even more by fear of a collision. Again, not an error, just two lame brains butterfly watching.

He nonchalantly went after it and it hit off his arm right near his glove. The ball should have been caught. Even the announcers said that has to be caught for an out. If it should be caught, then it should be an error.

And I know what the fuck an inside the park homer is; I don't need your condescending reply to my initial post when my post wasn't directed at you at all.

Lots of balls should be caught, it still doesn't make it an error. Any post here is up for a reply, don't like condescension, don't post something deserving of it, don't want a response, don't post, sorry if that's too hard of a concept.

I'm going to have to raise the bullshit flag on this one.

You can disagree with something without being condescending about it.

What does my team losing have anything to do with the ruling on that play? It's a run regardless. The fact that the ball hit his arm and not his glove shouldn't matter. He got into a position where he could have caught the ball and then muffed it. That, in my book, should be an error every time. If it was a pop up that he muffed and let hit his arm, you'd call it an error, no? So what's different here?

Perhaps the difference in what is condescending and what is stating a fact is in the beholder. Look somewhere else for the bullshit, it didn't come from me.
