Whats baffling... Reyes is old and about to collapse any minute, tulo a huge upgrade... deadline is 4 days away, they clearly aren't done yet and they did it without giving up their 2 best prospects

I didn't realize Reyes was so bad defensively compared to Tulo. If he holds up, he's a monster upgrade at SS. And is still their second best pitcher!

Reyes is just barely more than one year older the Tulo. Tulo has an equally long injury history and now has to play on turf. Tulo is signed four years longer than Reyes is. Tulo makes their entire lineup righty and doesn't help their pitching. And they gave up two of their top 5 prospects. It's an improvement on Reyes, sure, but they HAVE to add a BIG IMPACT pitcher or this deal makes no sense.
They are outscoring the second best offense in the league by SEVENTY TWO runs and are still just .500. Adding more offense doesn't do all that much for them.

Turf's gone in the next year or two, no need to worry about that.
Also, we're a middle of the line pitching staff that has suffered from bad defense. That's the upgrade that you're looking for, and #Tulo fills that hole.
Pitching was a depth for us in the prospects department, and it's not like Colorado has had a great track record at developing anyone that good on the mound.
So why trade for a starter that's gonna get 9 starts and than leave at the end of the season? If your gonna make an impactful trade do you not want someone that's gonna be around for more than a couple starts as a rental? I suppose that only pitcher that doesn't fit that bill and would be worth a damn to trade for would be Hamels, but that's not gonna happen with his no-trade list. Everyone (and I'll be one to raise my hand here to) expects for a pitching trade, and that still could happen for all I know. But let's be honest, this isn't the same parameters that GM's are working under. They're out there looking for whatever they can do to improve their team. And this improve's the team.
Not sure how many teams out there will take on an even older Tulo on that contract.
