    Expanded Instant Replay 2014 version

MLB spent a ton of money on a huge display unit in NYC to expand the instant replay, pros and cons of course. Will probably slow the game a bit, no surprise and hopefully won't curb the occasional Manager meltdown...which I confess I actually enjoy. What do you guys think?

I think they have made a decent attempt to appease both sides, keeping the human element with balls and strikes but trying to curb the distaste of games being decided late in the game by a bad call.

They couldn't get it right before so I don't see how expanding it is supposed to help when you have egotistical morons like Angel Hernandez refusing to change their calls when virtually everyone else knows the call is wrong.

I think they've made a good effort, but the issue continues to lie with the umpires themselves. We'll see if anything actually changes in terms of the number of calls right/wrong over the course of a season, I guess.

MLB have clarified the "transfer" rule most notably when it involves a double play, basically putting it back to way it has been, first out counts if ball is controlled but bobbled or dropped on the transfer to the throw.

This whole process is a scam and complete waste of time. A number of times already they've gone against their own "undisputable evidence" requirement on a 50/50 call because one angle you might see a tag but when you look at the other 5 angles its not even close. Its a scam.

It's a work in progress. It's far from ideal. But better to have growing pains than continue just doing nothing to prevent those same terrible umps from deciding games.

There is going to be inherent flaws in any system, especially new ones. But I'd rather have this than the old way of relying only on real time calls and watching a repay to see it was obviously wrong.

The fact that they're reverting the first flaw that came to light shows that it's not some intentional sham and just a new system going through growing pains.

I must say that since they have worked some of the kinks out and clarified some of the issues, the majority of challenges I have seen just in my team's games have been pretty fair. Just tonight there was a challenge by each team and both field calls were overturned and in my view and all the angles of replay they got it right in the end.

So far, I think this will be a good thing, especially come play-off time. As far as the couple minutes it takes, if I am committed to watching a possible 15 inning marathon, it really isn't making much of a difference.

I'm just glad that it really doesn't take too long for them to make a decision.
