The new policy will increase first time offenses from 50 to 80 games, a second will increase from 100 to an entire 162 seasons (not sure if that means it would carry over if it should happen late in the year) and the same 3 strikes you are out for life time ban. It is also suppose to include a punishment of exclusion for post season play if any player is disciplined at any time during the season.

However, penalties will be reduced if a player can prove he took a substance "inadvertently" like a cream or cough syrup that he was unaware contained anything banned. The idea is to punish those more severely with the intent of enhancement instead of temporary medicinal relief of pain or illness. Supposedly suspensions for the lesser offenses will be half of the original first time offense so 25 games.

Hoping to avoid another Biogenesis they will also implement carbon isotope testing, that should help with detection of synthetic testosterone.

What do you think? A step in the right direction? There should be a complete no-tolerance policy?
