According to Price he was sending a message to Papi, because and I quote "Sometimes he acts bigger than the game", supposedly this stems back from a home run Ortiz hit and admired off of Price last season during the ALDS. Although, there was a twitter spat at that time in which Price, who was in the wrong called Ortiz and apologized. So, it is a bit unclear why start this up again?!?! Price says he got support from many players, but in response Ortiz said "he acted like a little girl, he has no more respect for Price, it's on, it's war". That is the basic gist.
Ortiz has been getting hammered about the comment, Price is getting hammered over the incident, so I guess that's fair. The umps are also in hot water as they handled that game wrong. It's all just stupid.
The humor is Price making himself bigger than the game to impress on Ortiz that he acts like he's bigger than the game.
I don't know if anyone is laughing so much as just it's the usual Cubbies. It still pisses me off that WGN stopped carrying all their games and I read they may not carry them sometime in the future.
