Attention! Deadspin bought a HoF vote..

    Y! SPORTS http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-bi...3328--mlb.html

I feel OK with this, to be honest. I've largely hated the voting process for awhile now. Especially when they're holding guys like Biggio and Piazza up against actual steroid users. Granted, there will be a lot of general public voters that abuse the opportunity and vote for anything (sounds like..DirtyKash) but hey, maybe commonsense will prevail. I am really curious to see how this ends up going and if it has any further impact down the road.

The popular blog — which bills itself as it "sports news without access, favor, or discretion" — convinced a BBWAA member with Hall of Fame voting privileges to sell his or her vote. We don't know who sold the vote to Deadspin or for how much (or what the consequences will be once all that is revealed). But we know Deadspin plans let its readers decide which of the 36 names on the 2014 ballot are worthy of enshrinement in Cooperstown. Hall of Fame voters can choose up to 10 players. The results will be announced Jan. 8.

As a long time Deadspin reader, and somewhat commenter (I had a star, when they gave those out) I am pumped about this. The voting process is terrible, and the mere fact that this can be done is proof. The idea that a vote can be purchased like a locker on "Storage Wars" is comical, and awesome.

    Deadspin bought a HoF vote..

I'm not sure it's THAT much worse than the existing process. Aaron Sele got a vote last year for chrissakes.

It's not people voting extra players in that's causing it, it's the moral police (who were in locker rooms and saw it) putting no one in

The Brian McCann's of the journalism world.

The issue I havem the reporters of the news, shouldn't be making the news. Oh wait, how many ESPN writers have a vote?

A lot of them actually vote for even the known or suspected steroid users..

I have more of a problem with voters not voting for people like Mike Piazza and Jeff Bagwell because they might have been roiding than I do those that vote for the known roiders.

Right. Biggio as well. Frank Thomas is sadly going to get the same treatment. I'm not saying they did or didn't use but I never recall strong suspicion or leaks of info ever indicating any of those guys ever used..that bothers me. Biggio has 3000 hits, Piazza is one of the greatest all time offensive catchers ever

Haha I deleted my post because a simple google search proved me wrong. Apparently he tested positive in 2003 during a 'survey testing'.

Jokes aside, the corked bat incident was embarrassing.

I feel like Mythbusters determined corked bats don't make that much of a difference anyways

I know for Piazza, the only "evidence" is that Murray Chass once saw he had bacne and wrote an article accusing Piazza. Which is so circumstantial, it's not even funny.

So Murray Chass seems like a good reporter.........
