I just figured he was trying to say I expect the Cubs to make a run at Hamels and/or Hamilton, which I don't.

Did I say he expects the Cubs to sign either? No. I was referring to Cubs fans in general. I suppose I could say the same thing for prickly self-entitled Yankee/Red Sox/Angel fans, as if their teams need any more talent.
Reminds me of Screech trying to fight.
So, back to actual trade deadline talk. Anyone think the Pirates will make a big splash and not just pick up menial veterans like last season?
Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.

I'd love to see them make a splash.

I hope the Pirates or somebody else sell the farm for Quentin. I don't like his injury history and hope he sells high.

I'm just wondering what happens should the Cubs not deal Garza. Losing out on those extra months will decrease his value. Do they extend him? Even at the high price he's likely looking for.

One rumor I read on another board is that the Pirates would trade CF Starling Marte to the D'backs in a deal for Upton. It would be a gutsy trade by the Pirates if true. I really believe Marte in a couple years will be one of if not the premier top of the order bats in baseball and has the speed/defense that makes Drew Stubbs and Carl Crawford say "how'd he do that?"

Just when I thought it wasn't possible to hate these two fucking teams more than I already do. I'm almost resigned to rooting for the Phillies to lock him up.The Angels, Dodgers, Rangers, Pirates, Tigers, Marlins, and Giants were reportedly among the teams with scouts in attendance for Cole Hamels' start against the Rockies this afternoon, though keep in mind that a scouting presence does not always imply trade interest in a particular player. The Phillies have a scout attending the Angels-Yankees game fueling speculation the Halos could be in on Hamels, writes Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
You realize it says the dodgers in that too right?
