I figured this would be like the Devil Ray years with one rep that wouldn't even be in the game. Nice of the players to vote for Matty J and the manager to pick Price.

Also, Super Sammy is reported to have been included in a way, he will provide commentary during the Home Run Derby.

I am guessing you mean Sosa to which I ask will he 1) remember how to speak English or 2) have that douche Jim Gray ask him about steroids?

If 'Super Sammy' is Sammy Sosa, this would be my first time hearing of that nickname.

I don't think he would be doing any commentary.

In case you're unaware of Tobywan's habit of using nicknames for every Rays player, "Super Sammy" is Sam Fuld.

And if I didn't know better, I'd think Rex Hudler had joined the Rays as their color commentator and picked up where he left off with the Angels, when he would always refer to Chone Figgins, Maicer Izturis, Vladimir Guerrero, and Darin Erstad as Figgy, Izzy, Vladdy, and Ersty. Barf.

Guess you guys don't watch a lot of the defensive web gems on the highlight shows. There are times when saving your team runs is as valuable as making them. If the hitters on the Rays could make them as much as S.S. Fuld (and Ruggiano) save them they wouldn't be 4 games back.

I think since he has been ESPN's pet they wanted to get him in the festivities some way, some how. It is kind of a twist for him to be doing the derby.....it's all fun, it's a game, baseball is suppose to be fun. Sam is in on the joke and he is happy to play along.

I think everyody understands the value of good defense, but if that 's all you have you still won't last long in this league.

Rafael Belliard had a pretty long career hitting .221.

My question is will Ron Washington have the balls to "humble" Jeter by making him bat 8th or 9th (with a dh).

You can last a little longer when you have a defensive minded manager like Maddon, it's the same reason Brignac wasn't sent down. Right now the Rays, fans, ESPN, MLB Network and many other media outlets have been having fun with little Sammy Fuld so they are striking while the temporary iron is hot.It may be a different story by September.

He also never saw more than 353 at bats in a season, and only had more than 300 twice.

Maybe I should have specified as a starter.
