Comeback Players of the Year

No real surprise here:

Tim Hudson was named the National League's Comeback Player of the Year.
He was selected by the beat writers of MLB.com. Hudson, like Francisco Liriano, receives the award after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The 35-year-old right-hander stumbled a bit down the stretch, but finished 14-9 with a 2.83 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 34 starts. He logged 228 2/3 innings this season, his highest since 2003 as a member of the Athletics.

Francisco Liriano was named the American League's Comeback Player of the Year.
The award was voted on by the beat writers of MLB.com. Liriano had a tough time in his first full year back from Tommy John surgery last season, but went 14-10 with a 3.62 ERA and 201/58 K/BB ratio in 192 innings this season. Back to being one of the best southpaws in the game, Liriano doesn't turn 27 years old until later this month.

Both men pitched out of their minds in their first full years back from injury and helped propel their teams into the playoffs. Congrats to both!

I was about to say.. what did Rolen come back from? Being in Canada? I think if a player slumps one year and then gets back on track the next, that's not a come back player of the year. Now recovering from a major injury to be an all-star, that's an accomplishment.

Rolen didn't slump though. He hit .305/.368/.455.
