American League BS Awards: AL Most Valuable Player

One thing you must always keep in mind with these award polls, it's who you would pick not who you think will truly win. Because, half of the time, the voters are 90 year olds wearing diapers who still think Willie McCovey is playing. Maybe not, but still.

I think we might have been sold on 1 or 2 guys for this award, but then you have to digest some other candidates. In my opinion, one of them would likely have been thick in the race if this wasn't the "post steroid era". I could be wrong, but Jose Bautista really had one of those throw back power years. Homeruns, walks, RBI, strikeouts.. never a pretty average but still a highly effective and dangerous hitter this year. And yes, since it is my poll, Mr. Bautista will be an option. Cheers to a fun year, Jose.

    Now on to the voting.

Mr. Bautista should be an option, and although I don't think he's the best one, he is definitely a reasonable option. Josh Hamilton helped the Rangers' win the division and I think without him for an extended period of time, they wouldn't have won it.

I went with Adrian Beltre. I know its not a sexy pick but think of what this man has done for a team with so many injuries. Youkilis, Pedroia, Ellsbury and Cameron have all missed big portions of the season and Beltre has helped keep the Red Sox above .500. That the Red Sox are seven games out is pretty amazing. Beltre has been a huge part of that on offense and defense.

I'm sure no one misses having Mike Cameron.

    I can't believe I did what I just did. But I did.
J-Bau had a great season, everyone agrees with that. All the points that Zito made are true, a great player for T.O. I still don't think he was the "most" valuable though this season. For that I went with a true leader on his team, one that kept them going when players around him were dropping like flies.

I'm going to go off the board and take Evan Longoria.

Although the more I look at the stats, I wanted to take Hamilton. I just think(for some reason), Evan was more valuable this year. (Plus, I really like guys named Evan.)
