Sure, the Yankees got him for next to nothing, but it's to my understanding that any acquired asset that tanks = a bust. Besides, if you're going swear by your definition of a bust, none of the free agents would be in the conversation.
Why is that mofo? A free agent acquisition and a trade are not even close to being the same. Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi is a bust. Melky Cabrera for Javier Vazquez isn't.
I say it was ManRam. First, he sucked in Los Angeles, then he sucked in Chicago. Given that he was still one of the premier hitters in the league, its hard not to think he was a bust.

Eh, I don't think anyone really expected him to have the impact that Figgins, Bay, and Lackey were supposed to have. He only signed a 1 year deal, too. Yes, it was $10 mil, but he's already off the books and these other guys are still locked up for years.
Still, if the A's spent that $10 million wiser, we might be talking about a different picture in the AL West.

I never said he wasn't a bust. I said the guys that are signed to longer deals are bigger busts. The poll is for the biggest bust. Sheets is not the biggest bust. No one was arguing to begin with. Reading is fundamental. Try it sometime before trying to start an argument. Shouldn't you be baiting Leo anyway?
Sheets may or may not be the biggest bust, but keep in mind that we're only talking about the 2010 season. He's definitely in the conversation for 2010 alone.
BTW, it's pointless to argue with a Padres fan. Since the Padres don't have the revenue to gamble $10 million on one player, it's easy for their fans to make excuses like, "We only owed Jim Edmonds $5.7 million!" and "At least he's not Andruw Jones!"

I guess we agree to disagree then. I acknowledge (never disagreed) that Sheets was a bust. To me the others are a bigger bust because they're still owed money for multiple years. Lackey performed the best out of Bay, Figgins, and Lackey. I voted for Figgins, but Bay and Figgins are real close in my mind.
