Yeah the lack of WIN METHOD is with an OFFENSE that has scored less TOTAL runs than the Red Sox had at the ASB before last night. The reason Ichiro, who leads the AL in H by 18, has only scored 73 times. How bout the fact that the M's have scored 3 runs or less in 101 games (including last nights 9-0 loss). The WIN METHOD is clearly not within the OFFENSE. They took there's no R in offense to new levels.

At least you never had to sit through the historical "pitching-is-everything" cocktease that was the 2003 Dodgers, who allowed just 556 runs but scored just 574 runs. Washed up Fred McGriff and holy-crap-Rickey-Henderson-is-still-playing was such bullshit that I was glad when FOX finally sold the team to that McCourt dude.

How dare you rip Fred McGriff and Rickey Henderson. A pox on you and all your town's people!

Cahill got 18 wins with the 11th best AL offense so it can be done.

the 11th best AL offense is still a lot better than the Mariners offense.

    Oakland - 654

    Seattle - 507

Seattle has scored 78 runs less than Pittsburgh who is worst in the NL. Cahill doesn't have to deal with that.

Would you say the A's offense is good? Compared to Seattle, yes. Overall, no. Pitchers can get wins with shitty offenses is my point; not which offense is worse.

Besides, I voted for Felix anyway. I don't think he'll win though. They'll probably give it to Cookies N' Cream.

pitchers can get wins with a shitty offense. They just dont usually get as much.

Felix would have 20 if the Mariners had an offense as good as Oakland's.

And, no, I'm not saying the A's have a good offense.

There's no way of telling. There is some luck involved. I imagine Felix faced the other team's ace many times, which wouldn't help his chances of getting a win. Cahill (18 wins) and Gio (15 wins) faced off against aces less I'm sure.

    Maybe, maybe not.

But there's no denying that the Mariners have the worst offense in the majors and there's no denying that the less runs your team scores the less your odds are of winning the game.

And if your team doesn't win the game your starting pitcher cannot get a W added to his stat line.

That's why I don't think he would have gotten 20 wins with the A's. He would have been going against the A's and the A's would have been shutdown. They beat up crappy pitchers sometimes, but not aces usually. He may have gotten 15-16 wins, but I doubt he would have gotten 20.

Re: BS Awards: AL Cy Young

Seattle's offense is historically bad. Felix's ERA in losses would still be in the top 10 of AL pitcher (it's as good as CC's overall ERA, see previous Jayson Stark quote). Sure I don't think he would win 20 with Oakland's offense but when the offense hes with scores about 3.2 runs per game. Not even video games could out this bad of an offense (even SD in HSL)

If Cahill can get 18 with the A's I have no doubt in my mind that Felix would have gotten 20.

Again, I doubt it for the reasons I already stated, but it's pointless to argue it because the situation would never arise.

Cahill got 18 wins despite not being on the MLB roster and starting until April 30th.

The stat is vastly overrated anyways.

Ismael Valdez once had 10 wins before the ASB with the Padres while sporting a 5+ ERA.

    Russ Ortiz once won 20.
