Votto and Swisher take final ASG Spots

NEW YORK -- Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto and the New York Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher have been chosen by fans for the final roster spots for Tuesday's All-Star Game in Anaheim.

Thrilled Votto got in, he shouldn't have had to be voted in the first place. But Youk should have got in on the American League roster.

Still time for people to drop out. I agree, it's funny that each league's possible first half MVP were reduced to last chance ballot. But, it's not the first time and it won't be the last time.

Youkilis should have been in in the first place. I'm happy for Swisher obviously and as a Yankee fan I approve, but as a baseball fan clearly Youk deserves to be there.

Votto shouldn't have needed a last vote to win

No he shouldn't, but at least he was justified in the end by the fans. Something Mr. Youk can not say. It's pretty cool that the fans recognized Votto, a guy from a small market team, and the Reds did a great job rallying the fans to vote.
