This is such a sad day for me. I have always dreaded the day we would no longer see Griffey playing ball. Then again, we haven't seen the real Griffey in years. Good luck Junior!

Wasn't too long ago that he was named Comeback Play of The Year. I knew it was unrealistic to hope for, but I really had hoped that he would have a few more years like that to pad his stats and maybe hit 700. He finishes with 630, but what a ride.

It really is a shame that his body just fell apart and he wasn't able to string together a respectable last season with a decent BA and 10 or 15 homers. To see him finish his baseball card with a sub-.500 OPS is pretty lousy.

Griffey is one of the big reasons I got into baseball though when I was young and him being traded to the Reds only fueled my love for the game even more.
