MLB Orlando Hudson believes there is a reason why Jermaine Dye is contractless...

And it has nothing to do with him turning down offers from several teams, not wanting to accept what the market was offering.

"You see guys like Jermaine Dye without a job," Hudson told Yahoo's Jeff Passan. "Guy with [27 home runs and 81 RBIs] and can't get a job. Pretty much sums it up right there, no? You've got some guys who miss a year who can come back and get $5, $6 million, and a guy like Jermaine Dye can't get a job. A guy like Gary Sheffield, a first-ballot Hall of Famer, can't get a job. ...

"We both know what it is. You'll get it right. You'll figure it out. I'm not gonna say it because then I'll be in [trouble]."

Of course it's because he's black. There's no other logical explanation. Anytime a black person gets a bum deal it's racism.

MLB Scores An "A" For Racial Diversity - CBS News

    According to the report:

39.6 percent of Major League players are people of color - 27 percent Latino, 10.2 percent African-American and 2.4 percent Asian.
The percentage of Latino and Asian players declined by 2.1 and 0.4 percentage points, respectively.
As of Opening Day, 28 percent of Major League players are foreign born, representing 15 countries and territories.
The racial breakdown of MLB's minority managers is: five African-American, four Latino and one Asian-American.
In 2008, minorities held 33.4 percent of coaching positions in the league, a increase of 2.4 percentage points from 2007.
The Boston Red Sox led the league with with seven women in vice president positions. The San Francisco Giants were second with six. Half of all MLB teams have at least one woman in a vice president position.
But they're racist because Dye can't find a job and Sheffield took awhile to find his. Right.

If I could give rep+ to a sportsline.com sports writer I would give it to Gregg Doyel

Meanwhile, Garrett Anderson is still playing major league baseball despite being way past his prime.

Oh wait, I get it. It's because Garrett Anderson isn't black enough.

Gee, it couldn’t possibly be because unlike Garrett Anderson and a few other “aging and not still in their prime” players he wouldn’t take less money and as recently as this week turned down an offer from the Nats because he didn’t want to move? More like “delusionism”.

Yeah, I mean Dye had offers from a couple teams as well, at least one of them for something like 3 million, and he declined them. He just can't play defense anymore and teams aren't willing to pay much more than that for 20-25 homers and a .260 average. No one in the NL could afford to play him because of his defense, and AL teams can plug in young guys (like Jake Fox) or old, poor defending players (like David Ortiz) that they already have. He just doesn't have that much value anymore.

People like Orlando Hudson should realize that it's not racism in baseball, but rather the attraction of black kids to basketball and football that is causing this disproportionate minority of black baseball players. Some of the best players of all time, like Willie Mays and Hank Aaron, were black. So, obviously, baseball people hate the black man. What a joke.

Doyell put it best regarding the "disproportionate" minority of black baseball players.

The national population percentage is around 12 percent, the percentage in baseball is 10 percent. So it's 2 percent less than the population average, big whoop.

Just because baseball isn't like football and basketball with an extraordinary amount of black players doesn't mean there's a racial conspiracy afoot.

Then it's not disproportionate at all. I was thinking the national percentage was in the 16-18% range. Makes comments like his look even more ridiculous.
