Maybe he can get Hendry to fix the pitching staff or get some pitchers. Really this could potentially be a good hire given his baseball IQ.CHICAGO (AP)—Pitching great Greg Maddux(notes) has rejoined the Chicago Cubs as an assistant to general manager Jim Hendry.
The 355-game winner, who started his major league career with the Cubs in 1986 and rejoined them from 2004-06, retired as a player after the 2008 season.
“I’m just going to do what I can to learn how both sides of the game work this year and then kind of make a decision after that,” Maddux said when asked if his new job would be a stepping stone to other baseball opportunities.
