    Baseball Slant Welcome To BaseballSlant.com

Strike3Forums.com and now BaseballSlant.com has been around for over four years now. And many of us have known each other longer than that. In fact, many of us have grown up together (it doesn't seem like too long ago when a large chunk of the 'core' was in high school.)

For those around for the exodus, it shouldn't surprise you that Strike3Forums.com was a name picked rather hastily as we had to scramble to set up a brand new site in a matter of a couple of days to bet the gang back together. But as we have grown, so too has the site. What started off as our original idea, which was baseball discussion, had changed over the years. We needed a name to reflect what we are about, which is your opinion about the game, it is what makes this site unique and unlike anything else.

Everyone has a slanted view of the game. Some of us are old-school, and others are creating their own statistics to value players. Some take an optimistic view no matter how bleak it might be, others are loathing their team before spring training begins. Some like to discuss the game using humor or sarcasm, others like to discuss the game sincerely and from a place of earnest honesty. One way is not right or wrong, it is when all these different views come together that we have something more interesting than an article from a big conglomerate news organization or a blog where you can't start the discussion unless you write on the blog. We want anyone who comes here to know what they can expect of the site and our community.

We are a community. The name is a non-factor for you. You can type Strike3Forums.com and you will always come here. Che Stairs will be our idol. Leo will randomly bump topics from years ago. The Dodgers will continue to frustrate mofo. DK will continue to get +rep for his hilarious posts. And I will watch the Reds continue to have losign seasons.

Names change, the spirit of the community won't and that's what matters. We're planning to do some exciting things and we hope you stick around to check them out.

I am down with the BS. If ever we decide to start a podcast, maybe we can call it, "The BS Report". How's that for a name!

high school? good lord, I was in grad school...close to finishing it up actually. I'm an old 29. I'm no DD, but I'm getting there. I'm a few years away from throwing around the "Similac breath" line at the n00bs myself.

After failing to perform well against Korean pitching, Choi was demoted to the Korean minor league affiliate of the Kia Tigers.
Oh how the less than mighty have fallen. Although, I'd be the first to admit once upon a star I wanted the Reds to offer him a MLC to give him a shot at the roster.

    Re: Welcome To BaseballSlant.com

He was the next big thing for the Cubs when we brought from overseas, and unlike most imports he was relatively young too (24 or 25? I don't remember, but he wasn't like Dice-K and/or Fukudome and half-dead already). I vaguely remember him being baseball america's 6th best prospect in their entire top-100 during his rookie season. Maybe he was the Cubs 6th best though, I dunno. Our farm was so stacked back then and more than half of the guys in our system who were considered elite (i.e. Sisco, Brownlie, Justin Jones, Luke Haggerty, Corey Patterson, Lou ****ing Montanez, Dave Kelton, Nic Jackson, Ryan Harvey..zzzz.. Jason Dubois, Brian Dopriak, Brendan Harris... etc. etc.) didn't do shit, while guys like Marmol and Soto and Ryan Theriot break out of nowhere.

Yes, the same Hee Seop Choi that Jim Tracy supposedly deserved to get fired for misappropriation of Choi's playing time.

Of course, Jim Tracy was last seen in Colorado being a genius or something.

To that I respond with if your team doesn't frustrate you, you're really not a fan.
