Question 6 shutouts in MLB today

    Atlanta 0 - Pittsburgh 10
    Milwaukee 0 - NY Mets 1
    Arizona 2 - San Francisco 0
    Kansas City 2 - Texas 0
    Cincinnati 0 - Houston 7
    Detroit 2 - Seattle 0

Six teams got shut out today. So much futility. That has to be some kind of record, right? Can someone look this up?

The team with the most futility today isn't on that list.

    Found the info.

Seven shutouts on one day for first time since '72 - MLB - ESPN

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the most shutouts on one day since there were a record eight on June 4, 1972, when 16 games were played.
Damn, came so close to making history today.

It's not that there were 6 shutouts, it's that Texas was shut out at home plus Houston and Pittsburgh shut teams out. Odds that those 3 things happen again on the same day?
