    Cardinals Pujols Wins MVP!!

ESPN - St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols wins Most Valuable Player award
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols has won his second National League Most Valuable Player award.

Pujols won by a comfortable margin over Philadelphia Phillies slugger Ryan Howard. Milwaukee's Ryan Braun was third and Los Angeles outfielder Manny Ramirez came in fourth after playing just two months with the Dodgers.

Pujols hit .357 with 37 home runs and 116 RBIs despite playing much of the season with a sore right elbow. The Cardinals finished fourth in the NL Central.

Pujols got 18 of the 32 first-place votes. He also won the award in 2005.
The writers have gotten every thing right so far this year Pujols was obviously the best player last year and the Cards would not have been contenders in September without him. Congrats on #2 for Pujols!! I love how the writers voted Ryan Braun over Sabathia since he was more valuable.

They got this right. Howard had a strong 2nd half but Pujols is on another level. So does this make up for the season that Howard won? Very similar situation. Howard has super 2nd half and a shitty 1st half. Pujols has a sustained all-around season.

Not in my mind. Pujols should have three but only has two.

Pujols earned a $200,000 bonus for winning the award. Ramirez got $75,000 and Braun got $50,000.
    Which is nice

Seriously, Howard winning would have induced me to vomit with rage.

Thank god there was some common sense to the voters this year.... so far.

Congrats Prince Albert and Cardinals fans.

Well, its no different than voters voting for players barely hitting over .300, under 20 hrs and 80 rbis, and striking out 100 times.

Sabathia got votes, so it's not shocking.. well, at least not completely shocking. It's clear after seeing the voting for rookies of the year, not all voters are in touch with reality and in the past, there's a sense of bias. But least Lidge was pretty damn valuable.

    Re: Pujols Wins MVP!!

It's ironic that Pujols and Howard each won the MVP award in the same year that the other guy won the World Series.

Chipper Jones got shafted. Just because the rest of the team can't do shit don't mean he should be penalized for it. Just one 2nd place vote? The BBWAA needs brand new members.

Jones missed a lot of time because of injury which is why he didn't get as many votes. He still added to his HOF numbers.
