    MLB No more coin flip?

Saw it on SportsCenter's ticker this morning that MLB is planning on voting to get rid of the coin flip for one-game playoffs. The new plan would be to compare head to head records and determine home field advantage that way. The voting will take place at the winter meetings in December.

    Thoughts?

Its the way it should have been the whole time. Baseball has a lot of things to work on this season and if they do this, they are on the right track.

So when will home field advantage for these potential games be determined? One thing the people who were up in arms about the Twins having to play in Chicago seem to forget is that when home field advantage for that game was determined, the White Sox were up 8-7 in the season series. Also, what happens in case of a 9-9 season series?

They should wait until the head-to-head season series is over before they determine where home field advantage should be. And in the case where the season series is tied, I can see where a coin flip would be ok.

They should decide it with sudden death bat fights.

If it's tied 9-9 you then go to has the better division record. After that better record between common opponents. After that best record against the league. Then a coin flip.

Just like in the NFL a coin flip should ALWAYS be a last resort.
