    A's Ziegler's Streak Ends

It wasn't the best of timing, but Brad Ziegler's first Major League run allowed had to come eventually.

After extending his scoreless innings streak to 39 -- tying the Major League mark for relievers -- with a clean eighth on Thursday, Ziegler gave up an RBI double to B.J. Upton with one out in the ninth to end his historic ride. Tampa Bay went ahead, 5-4, on Upton's hit, but Oakland tied it in the bottom of the ninth to get Ziegler off the hook.

On Tuesday, Ziegler had broken the American League rookie record for consecutive scoreless innings. He had already shattered the Major League record for consecutive scoreless innings to begin a career, which was 25.

In honor of Ziegler's streak, the A's will be offering $1.01 tickets -- reflecting the 101-year-old big league mark he broke -- for Plaza Level, Plaza Outfield and Plaza Reserved seats on Aug. 29 for the game against Minnesota. The promotion will be available online beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday with the code "ZIGGY."

Before the game, there will be a presentation honoring the A's pitcher and his record-setting career start.
What a great, under the radar story! The man had his skulled fractured twice by line drives and managed to come all the way back and have a great start to a career. Here's to starting a new streak

No one goes through a career without allowing a run, if they pitch enough. There was a kid that was in the Reds chain a few seasons back that made it through over 2 seasons without allowing an earned run, and he was a starter. He blew his elbow and shoulder out and drifted back into obscurity.
This said, what Ziegler did was extraordinary. He is a rookie, so he certainly started his career with a bang, didn't he?

Incredible streak for Ziegler...it was going to happen at some point. Maybe this is just the start of a great career for the kid.

But apparently others go through an entire career with 574 stolen bases and not getting caught once!

    Kid? He's 28.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

I don't know what's more impressive, his streak or the fact that the tickets are so darn cheap.

Either way, yay for Ziggy! Hopefully it's the start of a great career for the green & gold!

Caught Stealings weren't recorded. Same reason that Josh Gibson's 962 HR's(and every other negro league record) isn't considered the record...
