If I remember the play properly, Bartman didn't reach OVER the fence. Alou still needed to make a spectacular play, that he has admitted he probably wouldn't have caught. Maier brought a ball from IN PLAY to OVER THE FENCE. Maier wins.

Bartman reached up, Maier reached out. Its not even open to debate, Fan interference heavyweight championship goes to the Kid.

alou makes that play. dont believe what he said just recently. he was directly in line with the ball.

that said, the little brat clearly interfered on that homer.

I don't know....Alou had to jump AND reach into the stands. It's not an easy play...

it was coming down into the first row at the deepest. so its not like he was reaching into the stands much. you see harder plays all the time in games. and it wasnt much of a jump to make.

But you have to realize that Moises Alou is not exactly a gold glove outfielder. I'm not saying he had no shot, but it woulda been a tougher play than Tony Tarrasco had with Maier in the way

Not that this had an effect on the play nor the game, but I give honorable mention to the brat Angels fan girl who smacked Reggie Sanders with her Thundersticks as he was picking up a ball along the outfield wall.
