Wouldn't be a shock. The guy's been in trouble everywhere he's been. He had the statutory rape in HS, he had the high fiving, the rap album, and the clubhouse fights with the Mets, and he's already shown laziness and shown up late with the Nationals. If he doesn't adjust his attitude, he may never reach the potential he showed when he was drafted

I don't mind high fiving fans or any interaction with the fans that isn't harmful.

I just watched it and it didn't look harmful to me. It just isn't common practice in baseball. Elijah Dukes was doing the chant as the dugout was clapping with him. Considering the source, it may have been malicious, but I still see no problem with it.

I just think it's something that is a bit immature. It's not a major league move. It's something you expect in pickup baseball or little league

What harm does it really cause? Specifically you or Nelson Figueroa, who seem to be taking it quite personally, for whatever reason.

    Shouldn't be in little league?

We cheered in the dugout on my high school team.

Apparently you're not allowed to have fun in the dugout anymore once you make the big leagues.

I'm not saying no fun. But if you are against the fist pump of Joba, or Reyes' high fives, this is a step beyond. This is something that is premeditated, and more to the degree of A-rod's HA. This is just immature and unnecessary. I don't say it should be grounds for punishment, but they will get hit if they keep it up

It's not about having fun, it's just something disrespectful. People ***** and moan about the handshakes of Jose Reyes or the fist pump of Joba...this is in my opinion more immature and obnoxious. Felipe Lopez got hit tonight, and hopefully it'll be done. But the most disturbing thing that was just brought to my attention is that current coach and ex-met player Lenny Harris participated as well. Any coach has to have better decorum than that. Even Keith Hernandez said that the synchronized chanting was just a bush league thing to do. It's just not done.

    Re: Washington Nationals: Bush League?

Your comparing apples to oranges here. Deluci has every legit reason to call out Joba's fist pump, because if Deluci does any kind of show boat, next time he's up at bat he's going to get drilled, and whats going to happen to Joba if he does that fist pump again? Probably nothing, because he knows he can get away with it.

I think your making a big deal out of this. There in the dugout just chanting/cheering/encouraging there players to make a play, get a hit and what not, if the Mets announcers gota problem with it, then they probably never played baseball before.

    Re: Washington Nationals: Bush League?

Umm, you're talking about Keith Hernandez, one of the most respected players in the last 40 years. He was a gold glove winner 11 years in a row, won 2 silver sluggers, won an MVP, and was a terrific clubhouse leader. I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but he and Ron Darling were two of the most popular and influential baseball players in NY in the 1980's. I think that this is something that will result in the Nationals starting plenty of fights, because this kind of act is JUST as disrespectful if done improperly. And when 15 players, and a coach simultaneously chant stupid shit, it becomes inappropriate....at least if you ask me.

Yes, I'm quite sure. It's just an immature act. I'm not calling for action against them, but it's something that can be taken as disrespectful and will get someone into a beanball war if it continues....which it hasn't so far tonight
