They're all in a tie for dead last because they all suck.

    MVPs: A-Rod & David Wright
CYs: Jake Peavy & Dan Haren
ROYs: Ryan Braun & Hideki Okajima
MoTY: Manny Acta & Manny Acta

The only award where the team's overall performance should be considered is M.V.P., and that's only because you're trying to determine (by definition of the award) who was most valuable to his team's season.

Kinda hard to be "valuable" to a losing team.

It makes a huge difference for voters, sadly. It's why Dan Haren has no shot, even though he's been the best pitcher, because Oakland sucks at hitting.

    Yeah, I know

I just figured we were going about this as to who should win these awards, not who will win them.

Oh, I thought it was will.

I'd change Prince over to Chase Utley, and CC/Bedard is clearly in Bedard's favor, strictly based on mastery.

eh, it wasn't specified by the thread starter.

Just how I generally go about it in these threads and, because of that, reacted as such when someone mentioned the caliber of the teams two pitchers played for.

He was probably posting who he thinks will win it.

Magglio's a clear 2nd MVP, I don't see how anyone can argue that.

    Re: The Other Awards

People when the voters vote, they go with the familiar names and how their team fairs in the regular season. We all know that. Rarely, does an award go to a player(s) on teams that are not at least contending, unless their season is out of the ordinary. And in this day and age, it is going to happen even less because of the playoff system (3 division winners and a wild-card), and too much parity and better than average pitching.

I'm fully aware of this concept.

I simply point out who I think should get the award, regardless of whether or not I think they will get the award.

Sometimes I type before thinking when I see someone going about it the other way, which is what happened in here.

You might be right. Although he did pitch in April, May, June and August last year. I thought there was a 45-day limit for being on major league rosters? Who knows.
