If anyone other than Jake Peavy wins this award there will be riots in the streets of San Diego.

Jake Peavy no question, sure I want Webb to get it, but he does not deserve it.

I think there can be a case made for Webb though. His K's are not going to be as high as Peavy's because he's a sinker ball pitcher, While Peavy is a overpowering pitcher, Peavy does have more wins by 2 and better ERA by .76. He also leads the Majors in IP 229 and in CG 4. Another factor to put in play is that he's the horse of the D'Backs staff and he helped them to take the lead in the NLW, when AZ was in 4th or 3rd place at one point and the Dodgers and Padres were significantly right next to eachother.

    No, not really.

Peavy not only leads all three categories, but he leads them by a wide margin, good point.

Throwing 12 more innings than Jake and a few complete games is not much of an argument.

    Irrelevant.

It's the Cy Young, not the "Most Valuable Pitcher"

It awards the best pitcher of the league that year, not the pitcher who's most valuable to his staff.

Its cool just trying to make a case for Webb. I believe RJ won the CY when he did not lead the league in wins I believe, he only won like mayb 10-14 games I think in 04, I will check it out.

    Re: NL Cy Young

Being RJ, I'm sure he dominated the strike outs category and had a crazy low ERA, though.

I, of all people, am not going to argue someone to be the Cy Young based on win total alone. You should know me better than that.

I know that, I was just looking up his numbers because the W is also considered as part of the "triple crown"

    Re: NL Cy Young

Peavy is the easy choice for me, but I think it's a shame that Aaron Harang plays in a small market and on a team that finished 13 games back in a mediocre division. Otherwise his name would have been in this discussion.

Harang would be my choice if Peavy wasn't pitching so freakin dominant this year.

Totally agree. It's a shame he gets overlooked, for the most part, because of where he pitches.
