    Personally,

I think there should be 6 teams in the playoffs to give incentive to best 2 teams in the playoffs of having the 1st round off. Make that round like a best of 5. What does the top 2 teams get in the 1st round, nothing real big except one more game in a best of 5 series. I think they deserve a little more than that.

Just the same way how the Mavs the number 1 seed lost to the Warriors who were a 8th seed, its the nature of the game, can it happen? Yes, but not all the time.

Expanded playoffs appear inevitable - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

There would be two wild-card teams in each league, and the wild-card teams would meet to determine which advances to division series with the three first-place teams in each league.

Some would have the new round be best-of-three, and others would have it as a one-game winner-take-all. The mechanics appear to be at issue more than the concept.
I look at the new round as nothing more than "play-in" game. The loser is no better than a team that falls short of a wildcard berth on the 163rd game, a la the 2007 Padres.

I think this is a terrible idea. We are starting to find out that the teams with the most days off in the postseason do not win. This would only make that worse. I don't see a problem with the way its structured now. Too many playoff teams waters it down.

I don't think two extra teams would water it down too much in terms of quality of teams in the playoffs, but I think it's dumb nevertheless.

You go 162 games trying to win the division but at least finish on top of the wild card standings only so the 2nd place team can have a chance to leap frog you in one or three games?
