    Biggest All-Star snub?

    Let the chatter begin...

Carlos Pena was absolutely ROBBED. Chris Young was completely and utterly robbed as well but at least he made the 31st Man Ballot, and I plan on voting for him as much as possible.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

The 'I Can't Believe Urban Shocker Didn't Make The ASG' Thread: Snubs of 2007

Urban Shocker has been dead for close to 80 years (an untimely death) but I think he should make it based solely on his awesome name and the fact he went well before his time.

In actuality though, this is a thread for all the players left out of the game in favor of other, less deserving players. My number one pick for the NL pitchers? John Maine.

2.74 ERA, holding batters to just a .215 BAA, respectable K/BB numbers and he has really been helping to carry the Mets with their pitching woes. Hamels has posted more dominant strikeout totals with more control, but he's been much more hittable as well this year and considering their records, I don't see how LaRussa went with him. I'd take Maine over Sheets as well. I hate for the rosters to be loaded up on one player and with Beltran's undeserving selection, maybe that ticked LaRussa off... but Maine's been fun to watch this year.

I was already in the process of my thread (which I will have to merge) and I had to change mine to John Maine as you and me making similar threads at the same time with the same player (Young) was just too creepy.

    Re: Biggest All-Star snub?

OK, well here's some stats to back up my reasoning, Fishercat-style.

    Player A:
    .280/.354/.549, 35 XBH and 20 HRs in 74 games (.903 OPS)

    Player B:
    .280/.380/.604, 31 XBH and 18 HRs in 66 games (.983 OPS)

Maybe I'm crazy, but I would go with player B's INSANE SLG and OPS over Player A. A is Morneau, who is probably still deserving of an ASG spot, but B is Pena, and how can you take one without the other?

    Re: Biggest All-Star snub?

Carlos Pena's season has been insane. I was really pulling for the Reds to sign him in 2005 as Votto was some time away and Hatteberg had yet to shock many Reds fans with the type of season he posted, but after bouncing around a bit more Pena has FINALLY start to put it together. I don't know how much of this is a career year or a fluke or whatever, but the kid has always had power and skills at the plate and while it lasts, it's a hell of a lot of fun to see.

Friedman has had some great pickups with Pena and Harris.

Chris Young has been every bit as dominant this year as Jake Peavy and Cole Hamels

    How about this name Tom Gorzelanny (PIT). 8-4, 3.05 E.RA, 70 K's

The year of the NL SS's too. Rollins(PHI) having a great year, and Renteria(ATL) is having a good year as well!!!

Ramirez (CHI-NL) is having a good year!!

Youkilis (BOS) is having a good year.

These are a few names that I could think of at this time.

Chris Young has one less loss than Gorzelanny, an ERA almost an entire point lower, and 20 more Ks

I understand you were simply trying to throw his name into the mix, though.

Well it was mostly because he pitches in Pittsburgh. That is the only reason I mentioned him!!! Young is having a much better year, but you have Peavy and Hoffman. Hell the Padres entire pitching staff could go with the year they are having collectively as a staff! Most of the first half they have had a sub-3.00 team E.RA. But you already knew that!

Bengie Molina no doubt, Brian McCann is hitting .261 7hr, 41 rbi, OBP .314 Slug .427
Molina's numbers .289 avg, 8hr 44 rbi, OBP .311 Slug .437. and he's hitting .417 with 2 outs and RISP, something allong that line.

LMAO, McCann being there is a complete joke...Molina was snubbed but he's definitely not the biggest snub IMO.
