RBI single for Lo Duca, 6-1 Mets.

3rd RBI of the game for Paul Lo Duca.

Peter Gammons is just drunkenly ranting about how good the Mets are right now.

Delgado grounds out Pujols to Eckstein. 6-1 Mets going into the 9th and there is no need for Wagner to come in, but he will anyway.

Why are they talking to Gammons SO much?

ESPN is surpassing itself with the utter stupidity.

Maybe talk to him a couple times over the whole game, but they ask for his opinion on every trivial matter it seems.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

Oh wait, I just realized something...

Billy Wagner in a non-closing situation! And you know how he doesn't get the adrenaline rush for those non-closing situations, so this should be interesting to watch.

Because he has slight knowledge of baseball, compared to their lead analyst who thinks he is watching an Australian cricket match.

If they want to talk to him that much, just make him the analyst and dump Morgan.

    Good idea to me!

Molina gets a sharp single to center.
    Spiezio pinch hitting for Edmonds.
    Peter Gammons talking again.

    Joe Morgan-

"It's easier to catch a fly ball than a ground ball."

I don't really know what to say about this.

    So...Taguchi is up.

And he gets it done this time.

Base hit up the middle for So Taguchi. Runners on first and second with one out, Gary Bennett will pinch-hit for the pitcher.

Dunno about any of you, but I'm feeling a Bennett GIDP to end it right here.

And I'm wrong. Pop up to Valentin for the second out and the Mets are one out away from starting the season with a win.
