I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Ruth and Gehrig played near the same time.

    Ruth.

Compared to the players of his generation Ruth dominated like no other player before or since. In several years he hit more home runs not just than any other player, but more than any other TEAM in the AL. McGwire, Sosa, even the steroid freak Bonds never even came close to that type of domination.

Ruth hit for average and power.

Today he would probably never have played another position other than pitcher at all though. Left handed pitchers that win 20+ per season and have a 2.28 era are not allowed to try their hands at playing in the field.

The Babe was a super gifted athlete. Whether he was born in 1895 or 1985 it wouldn't matter. He would've adapted to the current level of play. Back then there were all kinds of illegal pitches that are not allowed today. He adapted. He partied. He didn't train. He didn't need to. He is the best HR hitter that's ever been.
