I really don't hate the Cards. I dislike the Cubs most in the division and I have a slight dislike for the Cards just because they are so darn good. Walt Jocketty has done a fantastic job with that team and getting great players for cheap and making the right trades.

Choi continues his hot hitting. Nice line drive.

Got the hoagie and my Mystic sparkling water (sparkling water rocks!)

    Suppan is a jam.

    Cardinals defense look lost here.

Big out as Drew pop up in the infield. There is nothing better than an infield out when your team is on the field and there is nothing awful like an infield out when your team is batting.

    Cardinals now need a DP.

mission: You gotta give LaRussa credit. He gets a lot out of his role players. If he managed a team like the Cubs with a higher payroll, Cubs would be a World Series contender.

LaRussa is one of the best in the game no doubt.

Steak: The Cardinal's payroll is 5 million higher than the Cubs.

I'm cheering for the Dodgers in this game. I like J.D. Drew as a player (if not as a baseball guy, since he did hold out on Philly), I like Derek Lowe and Brad Penny, I think DePodesta got a bum rap. And really, the Cards are stacked and I like the dog.

    Middle of first

    Dodgers lead 1-0

    Cardinals defense was horrible there.

Eckstein with a good battle so far.

I think that if one thing will hurt the Cardinals against the elite teams is, like last year, the lack of a complete lineup. Their 2-5 guys (Rolen, Edmonds, Pujols, Walker, in no particular order) are some of the best in the game. Eckstein's a competent SS, However, when you give your opponent 4 easy-medium outs per 9, it's hard to be consistant from inning to inning.

If Penny was healthy in the playoffs last year, I think LA/Stl could have been a different outcome.

I like Penny, and I still think that was a good trade for the Dodgers, although if Murphy does anything, it will effect the decision. I think Choi can still be good and Penny's very underrated.
