These aren't the real ones but here are some awards.Ryan Howard was named Outstanding Player and NL Player of the Year in Players Choice balloting announced Wednesday.
Jermaine Dye was the AL Player of the Year. Taking Outstanding Pitcher honors were Johan Santana in the AL and Chris Carpenter in the NL. The Outstanding Rookies were Justin Verlander in the AL and Dan Uggla in the NL. The AL Comeback Player was Frank Thomas, with Nomar Garciaparra winning the NL award. Albert Pujols was named the Marvin Miller Man of the Year.
It is a bit puzzling why these awards are not given out earlier. The voting takes place just after the season ends. They should be known before the WS is over.
