    That is sad. Scary stuff, just makes you think how quick something like that can change a family's life. It makes me appreciate today and the time I have on earth even more.

    My favorite memory of Joe Niekro was the time he dropped the emory board when he was on the mound at the Metrodome. Like anyone would miss something of that nature.
    Joe Niekro was a very good pitcher for a long time. He will never be in the Hall of Fame, but everyone that faced him knows that he gave them his "best shot".
