Will Barry Bonds* be elected to the HOF?

If McGwire only got 23.5% of the vote his first time on the ballot, then what's Bonds* going to get? Sportswriters hate Bonds* a lot more than Mac...

Every repsectable baseball writer knows Bonds was a HOFer before the accusations started in 2000. He was already a 3 time MVP and well on his way to becoming the only 500-500-500 guy in MLB history. No player with 3 MVPs has been excluded from the Hall. Multiple GG's and a 40/40 guy make his case more appealing. No doubt Bonds gets in the Hall!

Just like I see McGwire getting in after a few years, I see Bonds getting in eventually.

The problem is, < 75% of baseball writers are respectable. I can't see him getting in at this point.

He'll get in unless he pops positive for steroids.

It's almost apparant that he's been taking them, but there's still no conclusive proof, outside of him admitting to "accidentally" taking the cream.

That, and he was a HOFer before he started ballooning anyways.

I also think that by the time he's eligible all the roid stuff will have blown over and McGwire will be in.

I'm sure he will get in like Mac but no on the first ballot. If he actually test positive for roids than I will say no.

McGwire will get in eventually unless there is conclusive proof that links him to steroid usage. Bonds regardless of being found guilty of steroids will eventually get in, although it may take him longer for reasons that hollywood and reefer stated, he was a HOF before the suspected steroid use.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

As much as I hate Bonds the situations are not comparable. Rose knowingly broke the cardinal rule of baseball and should never be allowed in, Bonds cheated but it wasn't against the rules at the time and unlike McGwire Binds was truly a great player w/ or w/o steroids.

I am not sure Mcgwire gets in b/c he wasn't really a great player he was a great HR hitter and that was thanks mostly to drugs. Even w/ the steroids I don't think he is a HOFer while Bonds was a great player when he was skinny and wasn't a great HR hittre- he was a better all around player before steroids.

I can see him never getting in based solely on no one liking the man, regardless if all he tests positive for is something out of Sweeney's stash.

Pete Rose should be allowed into the baseball HOF before any steroids user is allowed in.

What he did had zero effect on his play and didn't even happen during his playing career.

Wheras a steroid user's performance is enhanced by the performance enhancing drugs.

I do think Rose should be in the hall, but he bet on games when he was coaching. You know he had bet on his own games. But the all time Hit King needs to have his spot in the hall of fame.

    That's the thing.

At least with Shoeless Joe the cloud over him is over his actual playing career.

What Rose did didn't even occur when he was putting up his HOF career.

Rose, Jackson, Bonds, McGwire all need to be in the HOF!
