    Postseason Predictions Thread

    First the awards:

    AL MVP: Derek Jeter
    NL MVP: Ryan Howard
    AL Cy Young: Johan Santana
    NL Cy Young: Brandon Webb

Disclaimer: I thoroughly believe that Morneau and Pujols will take down the MVP awards, but I listed who I want to win because I think these two guys deserve the award more. That said, Morneau and Pujols just have such well rounded hitting numbers, combining high averages with great power and run producing ability, but Jeter had too many intangibles to ignore and Howard's power numbers were just too outstanding not to win the MVP.

    Playoff predictions:

    Division Series:
Yankees over Tigers, 3-1, ALDS MVP: Abreu
Twins over Athletics, 3-0, ALDS MVP: Mauer
Mets over Dodgers, 3-2, NLDS MVP: Delgado
Cardinals over Padres, 3-1, NLDS MVP: Pujols

    Championship Series:
Yankees over Twins, 4-3, ALCS MVP: Jeter
Mets over Cardinals, 4-2, NLCS MVP: Wright

    World Series:
Yankees over Mets, 4-1, WS MVP: Rivera

Yea I'm a New York fan boy, but you can't really deny that the NY teams are the strongest in their respective leagues. No playoff team this year has more than one great starter, so hitting is going to win the world series this year, and no teams have done that as well as the yankees and mets this year. We'll see though, these things are impossible to predict.

wow, you honestly think the A's will get swept? And the only team to get swept? They went 4 - 6 against this year and they're healthy now. I know you hope the A's lose because they are 6 - 3 against the Yankees, but still

I really am at a loss for AL MVP. There should be a nice 3 way race between Jeter, Morneau and Mauer, but one of the M&M boys V.2 deserves it, just because of their monumental comeback.

    Playoff predictions:

    Division Series:
Yankees over Tigers, 3-0, ALDS MVP: Damon
Twins over Athletics, 3-2, ALDS MVP: Santana
Mets over Dodgers, 3-2, NLDS MVP: Wright
Padres over Cardinals, 3-1, NLDS MVP: Hoffman

    Championship Series:
Yankees over Twins, 4-2, ALCS MVP: Wang
Padres over Mets, 4-2, NLCS MVP: Piazza

    World Series:
Yankees over Padres, 4-2, WS MVP: Posada (preseason prediction too!)

Hopefully the dodgers smash the mets.
Cardinals over SD in an ugly series.

Detroit hopefully gets back to winning
Can't really pick a team that never gets out of round 1, so twins.
    Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
    Ted
: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.

How can the Cardinals beat SD in the playoffs? They barely made it in and have been playing like poop the past few weeks.

Homer: We're proud of you, boy.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

I also think the Yankees are going to collapse in the postseason. I just have a feeling that "everything will go wrong" instead of everything "going right" like in the regular season.

Ugh the Mets don't have a good enough rotation to win the NL. You can't outslug your opponents all the time.

Don't be surprised if the Padres make it as the NL champions. They have good pitching and solid hitting. The Cardinals and Mets have been limping to the postseason and I think they'll continue that.

The Mets have a better chance this season than they would in previous years because the other three NL teams don't have a Schilling-Johnson type pitching duo or a Clemens-Oswalt-Pettitte type trio.

    First the awards:

    AL MVP: Justin Morneau
    NL MVP: Albert Pujols
    AL Cy Young: Johan Santana
    NL Cy Young: Brandon Webb

Disclaimer: When Morneau got hot, the Twins started winning. He has great, well-rounded stats and even Michael Cuddyer calls him the team MVP. Pujols is better than Howard as both have been equally valauble to thier teams. Pujols finished the season strong and his GW RBI cannnot be ignored. I had to go with Webb as Carpenter really started to struggle his last few starts. Santana is a no brainer.

    Playoff predictions:

    Division Series:
Yankees over Tigers, 3-2, ALDS MVP: Arod
Athletics over Twins, 3-1, ALDS MVP: Street
Dodgers over Mets, 3-1, NLDS MVP: Martin
Cardinals over Padres, 3-2, NLDS MVP: Pujols

    Championship Series:
Athletics over Yankees, 4-2, ALCS MVP: Zito
Cardinals over Dodgers, 4-3, NLCS MVP: Belliard
    World Series:
Athletics over Cardinals , 4-2, WS MVP: Street
