I agree that Mussina deserves consideration.... He definetly has anchor that staff.... As for the actual award. Santana.... Reputation and popularity always seem evident in these awards. Media dont always consider all angles... For example, West Coast teams seem to get omitted at times because everyone else in the country is already sleeping.....hahahahahaha.

Odds for the 2006 Cy Young winners are up!
Sportsbook.com puts Brandon Webb and Roy Halladay out in front

    NEW YORK, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ - Sportsbook.com, the world's largest
online sportsbook and casino, is the first to post odds for the 2006 Cy
Young Awards. Major League Baseball teams are racing to reach the post
season, and leading the charge are some of baseball's best strong arms.
Pitchers worthy of a mention alongside the famed Denton "Cyclone" Young
include the National League's Brandon Webb of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who
despite a sore elbow in recent games is the top contender and a 5-2 bet. In
the American League, Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay beat the Orioles
Wednesday, joining Justin Verlander and Curt Schilling as the only 14-game
winners in the AL. The native of Denver is the odds maker favorite at 3-1.
"The playoffs are looming in MLB and with all teams fighting to play
into October the stars who will lift their teams to the occasion are
starting to emerge," said Alex Czajkowski, Sportsbook.com. "Everybody bets
on baseball and the Cy Young and MVP contenders will be the players on
everyone's mind. At Sportsbook.com bettors can pick their award winners

I'd take the Jeter and Ortiz odds for MVP quite happily.

No love for Jason Schmidt and they give love to ****ing Billy Wagner? Schmidt is top 5 in IP, SO, and ERA. And Beltran is a better MVP candidate than Pujols?

ESPN became Big Papi Network early last season.

Schilling does not deserve to be mentioned in CY talk. He flat out hasn't performed to that level whatsoever. I'll take Verlander.

If Colon can win it, anyone in the AL should be up for it.

Halladay get his 15th win tonight, and Santana gets his 14th win, Santana being the more impressive tonight going 8.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, and 9 SO

Schilling and Mussina gets the no decision, but each had a good start tonight

    Verlander goes tomorrow

If the season ended today, Santana should win it hands down.

Halladay would probably be 2nd (if I were voting). It's not a homer vote either (even though it may look like it). Once again, Santana owns every single major stat other than Wins (in which he's tied with others for 2nd) and is only off by 1 win there.

Halladay or Santana are fine choices.

They are also the only choices.

Halladay and Santana are indeed fine choices. Verlander deserves consideration if he keeps it up for the long haul. But one guy who always slips under the radar is Chien-ming Wang. Probably not anymore with a shutout against the Tigers, the accepted best team in baseball right now. He went 7.2 innings of 3 hit ball and helped the yankees cruise to an easy 2-0 victory. The yankees could barely get the offense going, but the Tigers didn't stand a chance.

Wang has some incredible stuff, proven by his 16-5 record and 3.66 ERA. As of now he is not at the top of the Cy list, mostly because he is a groundball pitcher and not a strikeout pitcher like Santana is, but the last month of the season will definitely determine who wins this award, because there are 5 guys with very similar stats.
