    NL West is looking good

Every team in the NL West is .500 or better. I will type that again as it needs repeating. EVERY TEAM IN THE NL WEST IS .500 OR BETTER!!!!!

This is one of the most shocking, yet partly predictable events, I've seen in the league this year. While I would never have said "Hey, all 5 will be great," it was certainly possible.

Rockies always have a good offense, and they had young pitchers waiting to break out.
Giants had some nice young guys in the staff with a few solid contributors offensively.
Dodgers had probably the most well-rounded team coming into the season before injuries tore them apart.
Padres have a strong staff and some offensive behemoths.

But I can't see how in the hell Arizona does it. Their pen is sick, but beyond B-Webb, their staff is just flat ugly.

It is easy to explain. The talent is there and many people overlooked it.
The West is not the best, but the division is sound, and will be great fun to watch!

Giles is a god damned freak and you know it, even if he has been disappointing this year.

And Roberts is basically a behemoth of speed.

Behemoths was the wrong term, let's go with that.

My opinions about the value of speed to an offense don't change Dave Roberts massive amount of it.

I realize, it's just hard to both retort and not come off as serious in the same post, heh.

of course there's an explanation...it's only mid-May! Last year both the A's and Astros were 15 games below .500 and look what happened. The Astros made the World Series and the A's finished in 2nd 14 games above .500. It can very easily go the other way, too. Let's wait until the end of the season see where they all end up. I agree that it is better, but I still think it's a little early to be proclaiming anything with certainty.

Things do change, but in the case of the NL west I don't think so. Last year everything went wrong for most of the teams in the NL west and I don't see that happening two years in a row! JMO

I agree Arizona. They are doing it with mirrors IMO.

The more I think about this --- all the teams being over .500 is remarkable. Even though it's early I think the NL West is surprising some people.
