    Why the Allstar game sucks

I go to MLB.com today and what do I find? Allstar ballots for this year. We are 15 ****in days into the season and Allstar ballots? This is why we never get to see the people that deserve to be in there. That and people as a whole are stupid. I can 400 times a day for Pedro Feliz til Allstar weekend and make him an Allstar. This is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be stopped.

I agree with you. I am stunned. I think it's way too early to start the All-Star Ballots. Give it till May at least.

I would for one would do it in June because that way fans can get a good idea of who to vote for.

the game is a joke, why shouldn't the voting process be, too?

Actually we never get to see the people that belong because people are stupid, plus consider all the idiots in the NE that vote for their own because they overrate them.

No matter what, it's still the best of all four.....

    Padres

Regardless, here is the ballot that I just cast at MLB.com

    AL
    1B- Paul Konerko - on a tear with a MLB-high 7 HR already
2B- Brian Roberts - more homeruns than last year
SS- Miguel Tejada - 19 RBI before tonight's game
    3B- Alex Gonzalez - batting .342 before tonight's game
C- Greg Zaun - batting .310 with 11 RBI before tonight, and is doing a good job with the staff
    DH- David Ortiz
    OF- Vladimir Guerrero
    OF- Hideki Matsui

    OF- Ichiro Suzuki

    NL
1B- Derrek Lee - on a tear for the Cubs
2B- Jeff Kent - on a tear for the Dodgers
SS- Clint Barmes - lone bright spot on the Rockies
    3B- Joe Randa
C- Paul Lo Duca - bonus points for handling such a dominating rotation
OF- Milton Bradley - Dodgers have been hot
    OF- Pat Burrell
    OF- Miguel Cabrera

Oh please, it's not just the "idiots in the NE" that overrate and vote for their own. I refer to Armando Rios being 4th in all-star OF voting a couple years ago.

Agree with you there. At least it somewhat resembles the game, unlike the NBA or the NFL.

It still sucks nonetheless. Just 3 days off of baseball for me.

Circular logic aside, Mr Mims, you have yet to provide a single credible reason why you are, in fact, hot.

Agreed. If the NE seems to be more common of voting in "their" guys then I would blame that on population. Lots of Red Sox and Yankee fans that are gonna be homers.

I won't cast any ballots for quite a while if at all. I might post who I think should be the teams but not sure if I care enough about voting.

It's the best of all four, but it's not as great as it used to be either. I haven't watched the ASG in quite awhile and I doubt this year will change.

My biggest issue is with the time of the All Star game. I like a break midway through but no one cares and some players would rather skip it so they can stay fresh for the season.

I would rather have it after the World Series, maybe even in a tropical place like the NFL does in Hawaii. Yes, that would be a bad thing as many fans would miss out on going when it is in Chicago or Boston or wherever.

I wouldn't mind if the ASG is abolished for good. Ratings has not been good for the ASG in recent years and I don't think many fans and players care anymore as RLA mentioned.
