I thought the decision was a good one here.

He did not punch the fan. He can thank the security guard for that by quickly jumping in between Sheff and that fan.

Sheff did what anyone else would have done except all of us would have punched him and Sheff did not. I don't think the fan was trying to punch Sheff but he should not have been that close to the play. MLB got something right for once.

Nor should he have been punished.

    At max, a minor fine.

    Preferrably, nothing.

Chef didn't do anything wrong. It was the fan who should be penalized.

lol, i'm not the only assclown to punish the thread starter for making this a multi choice poll by voting all choices.

Anyways, i'm on the understanding that Sheffield didn't retaliate so there's no reason to punish him for being a bit mad that a fan tried to punch him...

Agreed - the fan should be forced to watch "Fever Pitch" so he could see how stupid he looks from a third person view

Sheff didn't do anything wrong. Good choice by MLB to not punish.

I don't think it would have been as big of a deal if:

    A. It was the Yankees vs. Red Sox
    B. The NBA brawl that took place in Detroit has sports fans an leagues on high alert
    C. There has been a growing number of fan incidents in recent years
    D. Had this been another sport other than baseball, except maybe the NBA because of the brawl. But without that ugly incident, even an NBA player in this scenerio most wouldn't have cared. Baseball has too much of a bad rap and bad press these days.

Not punishing Sheffield was the right decision. I'm tired of idiot fans causing trouble hoping the players get in trouble.
