    Rafael Furcal Prediction Poll

#1 and #2 are continued here:

#1 ...that Scott Boras will advise him to hold out, resulting in a debacle in which the Dodgers deactivate Furcal from the roster and Boras repeatedly answers "next question" in a press conference in the following day.

#2 ...after the Cincinnati Reds trade Felipe Lopez to Boston for Bronson Arroyo and Kevin Youkilis and Mets GM Omar Minaya trades Jose Reyes to Tampa Bay for Julio Lugo.

New York has to stuff the ballot box for someone after Mike Piazza.

Beltran's becoming the No. 2 scapegoat of the Mets behind Omar Minaya.

Delgado? He's probably on John Ashcroft's blacklist.

I'm giving Rafael the benefit of the doubt here. I think 13 million was a severe oversigning and I think Coletti's a moron, but Bill Mueller will hopefully help him in terms of his past...problems...and he should hit and field well enough to justify an all-star selection or three over the next few years.

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

The Dodgers haven't had everyone healthy since the Clinton Administration.

Actually I like Furcal.......he's a very good guy to have.....just not sure how the Dodgers are going to utalize this many SS's effectively.....if you play SS your whole life, it's not always easy to flop to the otherside of the infield....3rd base not so bad.......2nd or 1st can be a task for most

VERO BEACH, Fla. - Dodgers shortstop Rafael Furcal suffered back spasms after diving back to first base on a pickoff attempt in the first inning of Tuesday's Grapefruit League game. He stayed long enough to score the first run, then left the game and underwent about three hours of treatment, leaving his status for Monday's season opener in question.

"I think I'll be back as soon as possible," Furcal said. "I'm going to try to make it back by Opening Day."

Furcal is expected to miss a week at the most, which means he should be able to avoid the disabled list. But on the day club officials trimmed the spring roster by two, optioning infielder-turned-outfielder Joel Guzman and third baseman Willy Aybar to Triple-A Las Vegas, Furcal's injury further clouded a picture that was beginning to clear up.
Hopefully, this won't be a recurring issue for Furcal. I expect his power numbers to dip playing half his games at Dodger Stadium, but he could increase his SB and doubles/triples.
