And then there's channeling your inner CJKalt and declaring that Yasmani Grandal was overrated anyway.

Yep, I obviously said that too, even though I have yet to comment on him since the trade.

It's easy to win an argument when you project whatever favorable argument that fits best on the other person whether they said it or not.

It's true you have yet to comment on him since the trade on this message board. You save your CJKalt impressions for the homer sites.

I realize you like to blindly stalk the UT board and probably saw me arguing against the people who seem to think he's Johnny Bench, but I never really talked him up there before the trade, so your typical blind accusations of double standards don't really fly as much as you think they do.

I'm sure the people who seem to think he's the next Johnny Bench are far outweighed by the lemmings who suddenly think he is shit in all facets of the catching position except maybe pitch framing. And you just know those same lemmings are the ones who will turn around and think Derek Norris is the next Johnny Bench.

The cost of Cole (take two) - UTSanDiego Forums

Take his salary, deal one top prospect arm--Wisler and try to unload Maybin in the deal as well. Toss in some lower level prospects because really, they don't HAVE to deal him, but dealing him is about freeing up his salary and getting younger.
None of the above. We don't need to trade those guys to get him.
It's hilarious that if Hamels was on the Padres, their fans would have demanded the other team to take on the entire contract in addition to their best prospects in order for it to equal fair value because SD wouldn't HAVE to deal him, just as they didn't HAVE to deal Peavy and Gonzalez.

And I bet you can find Phillies fans saying something like that if you troll their boards.

Sure, if you're talking about the bandwagoners since 2008. The old school fans, however, haven't forgotten about Curt Schilling for Vicente Padilla, Travis Lee, Omar Daal, and Nelson Figueroa and then Scott Rolen for Placido Polanco, Mike Timlin, and Bud Smith.

I'm sure old school Padres fans remember the Fred McGriff trade as well.

One thing has little to do with the other. Every team of every sport will always have fans with their blinders on that makes them bias towards their favorite team.

Say what you will about cjkalt but I wouldn't call him a bandwagon Red Sox fan even though he does a lot of the same stuff in sports argument as being mentioned in here.

I never called CJ a bandwagon fan. He can at times be the reactionary Boston homer when it comes to Red Sox transactions as it has been alluded to several times this offseason. It's that homerism that Will Middlebrooks still gets love just because he was a Red Sox prospect even though he's not any good.

He's reactionary with every team. In one breath he hailed ND a contender and wanted the coach fired. He's spectacularly awful to read on FB.
    Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
    Ted
: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
    Barney: Circle gets the square!

I may have gotten the wrong impression, but you seemed to be drawing a distinction between those that would be homer-ish with their arguments and those that aren't bandwagon fans when you responded to my point of fact that you'd likely find Phillies fans making the very argument you're saying those Padres fans would make if the roles were reversed (when you said it'd likely be the ones who jumped on the bandwagon in '08).

Also, I doubt CJ thinks Middlebrooks is good anymore. He'd probably argue that Hannigan is the next Jason Varitek and they just sold high on Middlebrooks.
