    Dodgers Dodgers sign Treanor

Dodgers signed C Matt Treanor to a one-year contract.
No official contract details yet, but Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reported Tuesday afternoon that it's expected to be in the range of $1 million. Treanor, 35, batted just .214/.338/.291 over 242 plate appearances between the Royals and Rangers this season. He will serve as depth behind A.J. Ellis and rookie Tim Federowicz in 2012.
The Dodgers have definitely been the busiest team in the early goings of the offseason signing Rivera, Ellis and extending Kemp. The Dodgers next move should be bringing back Kuroda.

This signing of Treanor leaves me wondering what was the point of acquiring Federowicz if they're not confident that he is ready to be the backup catcher at age 24?
