Assuming the anonymous Chinese investors are even legitimate, why would I want to see Frank and Jamie get rewarded (with $1.2 billion no less) after the embarrassment they put the team through in dragging out their mess for two years and counting?

I comprehend the distaste for seeing them bank the money after all the crap but it doesn't really fit your analogy.

You can take the 3 year old out of the grocery store without buying the kid what he/she wants and he/she'll eventually calm down and move on.

It's not so simple to get the team away from the McCourts without giving them a huge payday.

A below-market sale price for the McCourts is what's best for the Dodgers. To have the value of the Dodgers' future TV rights factor into the sale price is equivalent to taking equity out of the team.

Wouldn't any money made have to go through divorce court?
I understand why you don't want to see them make any money of the team, and continue to live that lifestyle in LA for doing nothing. But if they have to take all their money earned of the sale to the court's, they'll have to split it, pay the lawyers, and a bunch of other stuff that would suck the amount of money going into their pockets.

Frank and Jamie McCourt expect to settle their divorce — and with it the question of who owns the Dodgers — in a trial during the 2012 baseball season.

The trial is expected to start next spring or summer and last 30 to 45 days, a timetable set forth by attorneys on both sides after a hearing Wednesday at Los Angeles Superior Court.

I'm convinced that violence and murder is the only way they can expect to settle their divorce.
