The obligatory press statement from the team's owner:

Dodgers owner Frank McCourt issued the following statement on Saturday night:

"We lost a member of the Dodgers family today. The entire Dodgers organization is mourning the death of John's daughter Christina and will do everything we can to support John, his wife Roxana and their son Dallas in the aftermath of this senseless tragedy. I spoke with John earlier today and expressed condolences on behalf of the entire Dodgers organization."

The irony is previous Dodgers owner FOX is no doubt one of the media outlets who the sheriff blamed for "inflaming" hatred resulting in this "senseless" tragedy.

Now we learn she's the granddaughter of former Phillies manager Dallas Green (I didn't recognize at first the younger Dallas was of any relation). Another tidbit of interest to the sensationalists is that she was born on 9/11/01.

Finally, I must say the Dodgers are on an unprecedented roll with off-the-field news but this latest one, Buster Olney tweets, "seems almost impossibly awful".

The name John Green by itself didn't ring a bell. But very tragic regardless if the girl is from a baseball family or not.

Death is always a bummer, the younger they are, the harder it is to accept & deal and to top it off with something that is violent is just unfathomable.
