Dodgers Gunmen attack, attempt to kidnap Luis Ayala

Fortunately for us all, he is unharmed. Thank god. We need at least one season of him pitching for the Dodger organization.

In unrelated news, realmofotalk's vacation in northern Mexico went well. Glad to have him back.

    Ayala unhurt after kidnap attempt

    Associated Press

CULIACAN, Mexico -- Relief pitcher Luis Ayala was unharmed during an apparent attempted kidnapping by gunmen at his home in the northern Mexico state of Sinaloa.

Martin Robles, a spokesman for the state prosecutors' office, said investigators believed Ayala was the intended victim, whom police prevented from being abducted.

Robles said gunmen in three vehicles forced their way into Ayala's home near the city of Los Mochis on Monday by shooting open the door.

Police arrived at the scene after receiving a call to an emergency number, and soldiers dispatched to the scene apparently scared off the assailants.
Neither Ayala nor his family were hurt. He was found handcuffed at the home.

Re: Gunmen attack, attempt to kidnap Luis Ayala

Scariest experience of my life, without question. A bunch of thugs shot down my front door with their rifles and handcuffed me and my family. Then they were going to drag us away in their trucks, no doubt to use us as hostages for ransom purposes, but thankfully the policia arrived at the right time. But the thugs were able to escape just a few moments before the cops got there, with the leader of the gang running off screaming, "THIS BATTLE'S NOT OVER, MCCOURT!!! I'LL GET YOU COCKSUCKER!!! I'LL GET YOU!!!" I don't know what that was all about, but I'm glad this is over.

    I second this.

As crazy as it sounds, glad no one was hurt.
