Dodgers When did Vincente Padialla become a good pitcher?

Did Ned Coletti kidnap a good pitcher and put Padilla's jersey on him?

Padilla has done remarkably well for the Dodgers, hasn't he? Tonight's game was very well pitched. His fastball had quite a bit of zip on it and his breaking stuff was biting nicely.
To think the Rangers dumped him and the Dodgers got him nearly free.

Well, it's not as though Padilla never had potential. With apologies to Omar Daal, Travis Lee, and Nelson Figueroa, Padilla was the player that the Phillies insisted on when they traded Curt Schilling to Arizona. He made the All Star Team in 2002 and appeared on track to be Phillies' ace for years to come. I guess hitters just caught up to him afterwards. Either he lost some zip on his fastball or he had trouble pitching in small parks or he lacked concentration.

By the way, the Rangers were on the receiving end of Andruw Jones. I guess that makes us even.

And now "Vincente Padialla" is the opening day starter. >_<

Could be worse, I suppose. You could have Kevin Correia instead.

Why apologize to Travis Lee, Daal, and Figueroa? They sucked...

But it is interesting Padilla got the nod. Without looking at his spring numbers, I ask the question. Has he really been that good this spring?

    Actually, it's Jon Garland.

    Not that he's much better.

Padilla fails to make it out of the fifth inning today. Following his Opening Day blowup, it is safe to say that the Vicente Padilla experiment is not going well.

When we read in the news a week from now that there was an attempted assassination of Colleti or the McCourts, I think it's safe to assume it was mofo.

Re: When did Vincente Padialla become a good pitcher?

Like the Jon Garland opening day experiment has been all that much better.

Listen, you jackass, we're talking about proverbial #4 starters here. If they were any good to begin with, they wouldn't have been available on the (relatively) cheap off the free agent market. I suppose we could be like the Yankees and overinvest in a #4 only to discover he isn't a fit in the ballpark. Or be like the Giants and have 120 million dollars invested in a #3 or 4.
