Eric Milton returns; James McDonald to Triple-A

The Dodgers optioned RHP James McDonald to Triple-A Albuquerque and called veteran LHP Eric Milton. Milton will start Saturday in place of Jeff Weaver

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Weaver should get another start.

Every single year the 5th starter spot is a recycling bin for garbage. How many times must I say, drafting is fundamental!!

Also, I know they want McDonald to get regular starts, but come on...it's a no-brainer to DFA Mota instead.

I just remembered that Milton wasn't on the 40-man roster, so a roster subtraction must be made. There's a chance Mota could be DFA after all!

Milton, in his last season with the Reds before the injury struck, did show flashes of 5th starter type of effectiveness. I don't know what he is looking like now of course, but if he pitched like he did then (2007 I think it was), for a 5th starter it might 4.75 ERA kind of tolerable.

But I literally haven't seen him since he was with the Reds so I don't know how much, of the little skill he possessed, has eroded.
