Free Agent Dodgers close to signing Randy Wolf

LOS ANGELES (TICKER) —The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the verge of signing free-agent lefthander Randy Wolf.

FoxSports.com reported that Wolf, who went 9-6 with a 4.73 ERA for the Dodgers in 2007, likely will be signed to a one or two-year deal. According to the report, Wolf would get less than the three-year, $28 million offer he turned down from Houston earlier this winter.
Sounds like a much better plan than hoping Shawn Estes will "regain some of the magic that he had 12 seasons ago."

Wolf is a "gamer" that should do well in LA. Its a pitcher's park which should be perfect for him.

But is he a "grinder"? Our team already attains a "gamer" surplus.

The rest of the NL West is happy to see the return of Wolf.

Ok, perhaps they're not close at all. Presumably, Wolf is waiting to see if the Mets are willing to throw their cash at him instead of at Oliver Perez.

Better for the Dodgers to get Perez anyway.

I don't know why teams give mediocre pitchers like Wolf and Perez so much money. $8 million per year is ridiculous for guys that are hardly over league average.

You can thank Kris Benson and the Mets for that.

Wolf has agreed to a $5 million, one-year contract. I hope like hell we are never going back to garbage like Dessens, Loaiza, Bombko, Hendrickson, and Shawn Estes.

Well Dessens got a MLC from the Mets, so he won't be back.
