    Dodgers Loretta In Dodger Blue

The Dodgers and Mark Loretta have come to terms on a one-year deal, according to agent Bob Garber.
It's worth about $1.3 million. The Diamondbacks, Pirates and Phillies were also looking at the 38-year-old. Loretta picked a contender to join, though he shouldn't have a full-time job in Los Angeles. The plan will likely be for Blake DeWitt to start at second base versus righties, with Loretta filling in against lefties. Loretta can also start when Casey Blake needs a break. The Dodgers aren't getting a legitimate backup shortstop here, but Loretta is still a pretty handy guy to have around.
Good pickup for the Dodgers. Loretta can play multiple positions and he can still hit for a good average. Loretta is a great guy to have on your bench.

Our starter at second base the next time Blake Dewitt goes on a 1-for-14 slump.
