    Dodgers Gagne could be cooked

It is possible that Eric Gagne's elbow injury will require season-ending Tommy John surgery.
Dr. Frank Jobe will look at Gagne's MRI results today to determine the course of action. ''Right now, we're hoping for the best,'' Gagne said. ''That's all we can do.'' Gagne has already had the surgery once, back in 1997.

From Rotoworld. Sucks for the Dodgers.

Even without Gagne they still have one of the better closers in baseball, but I'm sure they'd rather have Yhency in a set up role. I don't think Gagne going down would kill their season, and there are always a decent amount of closers available at the deadline anyway.

I blame the injury karmacally on Generalissimo's asking for Gagne to be traded to the Yanks and Braves. IIRC, he asked for Vlad and then Vlad got injured.

Dodgers should have traded him when they had the chance. Gagne wasn't exactly Gagne-like this year. Lots of walks and inherited runners. Brazoban did well before Gagne came back and I think he can do it again. The Dodgers are only 2.5 games back. Their season is far from over.

Trade Gagne for what? prospects? The Dodgers are not the Pirates, Reds, or Devil Rays.

This team should not get butt-raped in trades like the Pirates. Nice trade by Cam Bone-head-fay for trading Jason Schmidt and getting the magical wonderful wizard pitcher Ryan Vogelsong.

I can't really see any teams that have the right mix of cheap talented young players that would contribute to this team that they'd give up in exchange for gagne. most ppl would rather have the group of talented youngsters than an $18 mill closer.
